Book Review - Together Forever by Jody Hedlund + Giveaway

Marianne Neumann is searching for her younger sister, Sophie. Filled with desperation, Marianne becomes a placing agent with the Children's Aid Society in hopes of locating her sister. As a placing agent, Marianne hopes to locate a better life for the orphans, while locating her sister in the process.

Andrew "Drew" Brady is accompanying Marianne on her first placing trip. He is a former schoolteacher who gets along with the children. However, underneath his charm and beauty, lies a dark secret that continues to torment Drew. The pair finds themselves growing closer until a devastating accident threatens to break their bond. Will Drew be able to put aside his feeling of guilt? Will Drew and Marianne be able to move past the accident?

This historical romance was an enjoyable read. It was an interesting topic about placing orphans from New York City to other small towns. While the book was good, I found the beginning a bit slow but it picked up towards the end. The characters were all flawed but they were trying their best with the cards they were dealt with.

Determined to find her lost younger sister, Marianne Neumann takes a job as a placing agent with the Children’s Aid Society in 1858 New York. Book Review - Some Small Magic by Billy Coffey

Abel always feels invisible among people. He feels that no one ever notices him. He takes up doing magic tricks and hopes some of the magic will spills into his life. He is tired of being bullied because of his weak body. He is tired of being poor and always thinking about his dead father.  One day, Abel finds letters from his father who he thought was dead. He decides to go on an adventure with his friend, Dumb Willie to find his father and bring him back to Mattingly, VA.  The duo is faced with danger once the commence their journey. On board of the train, they meet a mysterious beautiful woman who seems to be hiding something. Will Abel and Willie be able to trust her? Why did his mother keep his father a secret?

When I picked up the novel, I wasn't sure what to expect. I thought it was going to be about a child finding his father and returning home. Instead, it was about friendship, making sacrifices, dealing with consequences and being content with life. The story was primarily told from Abel's POV but it changes. It's an interesting read and the story has many twists but while I enjoyed reading the novel, I wasn't in love. I will definitely read more books from the author though.
