March 2022 Empties!

Wow, March is almost half over. The year has flown by so quickly! I did manage to finish a few things this month and I am excited to take advantage of new sales!

I finished a few masks that I enjoyed using. I used this sticky Natto mask from VT that was kind of sticky but, super moisturizing. I have used Simply When masks before and I got the illuminate mask. It made my skin feel so soft and glowy.

I got the April Aromatherapy Mint Eucalyptus Bath Soak from the dollar store and it was pretty decent for the price. The smell did last for a bit and it left my skin hydrated after my bath.  I heard good things about the Summer Fridays CC Me Serum but, I felt that it was mediocre. I didn't really notice a difference using it. I wouldn't buy it again.

Here is everything I finished -

Averelle Acne Cover Patch
Skip the Spa Deep Cleansing Detoxifying Pore Strips Watermelon
Detoskin Lilly Floris Mask
111Skin Rose Gold Illuminating Eye Mask
VT Natto Probiotics Mask
Dermal Charcoal Collagen Essence Mask
Simply When Snow Song Illuminate
Ettang Paper Mulberry
Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter
April Aromatherapy Mint Eucalyptus Bath Soak
Summer Fridays CC Me Serum
Osea Atomshere Protection Cream
Elizabeth Arden Red Door Bath & Shower Gel
GoTo Fancy Face Nourishing Oil Cleanser
Davines Oi All in One Milk
Tula Skincare Protect + Plump

Book Review - Consumed (Firefighters, #1) by J.R. Ward

Anne Ashburn is consumed by things she cannot control. She is bitter about her family legacy, her career as a firefighter has ended, she is in love with the department bad boy, and her new arson case is against a fiery killer.

Anne is always up for a challenge and is willing to push herself to the limits. However, she made one risky decision and it changes her life forever. Anne has tied her entire self-worth to being a firefighter and she had to give up her dream job. She had to find a way to reinvent herself and her job.

She decides to become an arson investigator but, it pales in comparison to the adrenaline-fueled life she once had. Anne doesn't feel like she would feel the same passion for her job again. However, when a string of suspicious fires is cropping up all over her city, she begins to feel her passion revitalized.

Danny McGuire is one of the city's best fireman. However, after the accident with Anne, he is suffering from a personal crisis. He is heading for disaster after he keeps taking risks after risks. Danny seems to have a death wish until Anne reappears in his life. Will the arson case be able to help Danny find his path again?

I liked that the author took time to build each of the characters and their backstory. However, many of the side stories were bought up but, they went nowhere. I felt like barely any time was spent on the arson case. The culprit was revealed and caught by a lucky chance towards the almost very end of the book. Most of the book was spent on Anne and Danny's romance and random side-stories. I am not sure if this book was meant to introduce us to the characters or it was just a mediocre read filled with useless details.

Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream

The fragrance free lotion is enriched with glycerin to leave skin soft and supple. The clinically proven formula promises to provide relief against dry and chapped skin. The thick lotion didn’t have a noticeable scent, but it left my hand a bit greasy. My skin was softer but it was felt like it had a thin coat of wax over it.

Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil Intensive Hand Cream

My hands always get dry no matter if it is warm, hot, freezing or “perfect” outside. I read  many good reviews of this product on Sephora and decided to give this a try. The 100% pure argan oil and shea butter cream promised to be hydrating and non-greasy.  The rich cream had a whipped consistency which went on smooth and didn’t feel greasy or heavy on my hands. It did have a delicate apricot and vanilla scent, that made this a treat to rub on. The only downside to this paraben, sulfate and phthalate free cream is that I didn’t feel the cream lasted long enough to justice the $22  price tag.

Dial NutriSkin Replenishing Hand and Body Lotion, Soothing

During the summer months, spending time at the beach or under the frigid air of my beloved AC,  my skin gets dry, flaky, scaly and a bit itchy.  I saw this in the shelf and I thought I might give this a try since it promises 24 hour hydration and helps with dry and itchy skin. The lotion is a packed with beta-glucan, zinc, Chamomile, amino acids, and Vitamin A, C, E. The creamy lotion did go on smoothly and left my skin feel soft and smooth. I didn’t notice if they lotion lasted a full 24 hours since I usually put lotion on once or twice day. Overall, I did like and I would use it again.

VMV Hypoallergenics Illuminants + Face - Hand - Body Lotion

The sun, the ever fickle lover. Like a toxic ex-boyfriend, it showers you with bright love and then a couple years, you see the bad side of it’s love -- the wrinkles, the saggy skin and the sun spots! While, the body lotion can’t help with the wrinkles and saggy skin, it promises to help the sun spots.  Packed with antioxidants, vitamin C, green tea, and rice phytic acid to clarify, lighten and brighten skin.  I have been using it religiously on my hands and on my sun kissed shoulders and while the spots didn’t disappear, they lightened and became less noticeable. A good product to stock up one when spending too many days with my toxic lover. On a side note, since this lotion has AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) that “may increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn”, according to the book of instructions that came with the lotion.  So be sure not to skimp on the sunscreen!

L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream

The super popular hand cream is sold every three seconds around the world. The hand cream is enriched with 20% shea butter, honey, almond extracts and coconut oil. The cream promises to absorb quickly to soften, smooths, protect, and moisturize.  The  reamy lotion goes on smoothly but I find it left my hand a bit greasy. My hands does feel soft and smooth but I wasn’t fond of the greasy feeling. So I use it mostly at night before going to bed so I can wake up with soft hands without dealing with the greasy feeling. I did try putting a small amount but my hands still felt dry and looked ashy.

Julep Glycolic Hand Scrub

A mini facial for your hands, this product packs a powerful 10% glycolic acid in the scrub. This hand scrub reminds me a bit of St. Ives apricot scrub. The sweet scented scrub removes dirt, oil and dead skin to reveal softer and smoother skin and hands. After using the scrub, I followed up with Julep Rock Star Hand Creme and then began painting my nails; which I may add looks manicure perfect. Julep warns that this product makes your skin sensitive to the sun. So be sure to follow up with sunscreen when using this product.
