Revlon Colorstay Quad Eyeshadow - 585 Sea Mist

The sea mist palette eyeshadow contains vibrant colors of dark purple, hunter green, a soft baby blue and soft baby pink [almost a beige color]. The colors are a bit chalky and didn't go on vibrantly. Overall, it was a bit dull and a waste of money.

Maybelline Great Lash Limited Edition Mascara - Vision in Violet

I finally got a chance to try the other colors of the limited edition of Maybelline's Great Lash mascara. This purple mascara isn't as bright as the Maybelline Great Lash Limited Edition Mascara - Wink of Pink. I only notice it when I am outside in the really bright sunlight. I hope next year's version is a lot more noticeable.

Maybelline Color Show Polka Dots - 95 Blue Marks the Spot

I saw this nail polish advertised in magazines and I couldn't wait to try it. I am especially happy that  a lot more nail polishes are more in tune with Franken [Indie] nail polish and nail art trend.  The semi opaque blue tint nail polish is sprinkled with black and white confetti glitter.  The milky blue nail polish was difficult to apply and  the glitter didn't go on evenly. Like most glitter nail polishes after the first couple of uses all the glitter just sits on the bottom of the bottle.  The nail polish smudges easy and as you noticed some spots missing glitter even though I had use multiple coats. The nail polish chips very easy. It didn't even last day before it started chipping. I didn't use a top and base coat at first but even when I used a top coat the nail polish chipped and was bumpy.  The polish didn't dry shiny but with more jelly finish with the confetti on the bottom.  Overall, this is a mediocre nail polish in terms of quality but great in terms of appearance.

Marie Claire Fall Hair Color Guide 2013

To prevent blonde hair from going brassy, use a lavender tinted shampoo weekly. Strawberry tinged hair brings out redness in skin, so go easy on the blush when your hair is this shade. To keep red hair from fading, shampoo less frequently and cover up in the sun. For dark hair a mist of shine spray keeps midnight hues from looking dull.

7 Habits of Highly Effective Hair Color
1. Take note of your emotional state before you dye. You’ve likely heard of breakovers - those fevered hair and makeup decisions that follow a breakup, only to be regretted shortly thereafter.
2. Let your skin tone not your color whims guide your choice. Before you make a color switch, determine what works your complexion. If you have cool undertones or olive skin, you want warmth  in your hair to balance it out. If you’re more pinkish or flush easily, you want an ashier, or cooler, hair color. If your skin tone is neutral, you can go either way.
3. The test strand isn’t optional.  You need to nail the timing and figure out whether or not you like the color before you commit. Snap a thin lock a hair from the back of your head and do a dry run.
4. Know whether to wash first. For semi-permanent dye, you want clean hair when you color. The formula don’t have strong chemicals, so in order for them to penetrate, there can’t be oil, dirt, or styling products coating the cuticle. If you’re using permanent color with ammonia and peroxide or a home-highlighting kit, then you want hair  that hasn’t been washed in a day or two. The oil will protect your scalp from burning and your hair from getting damaged.
5. Prep your skin before you dye. A stained forehead may seem inevitable, but it’s preventable. Apply a hair wax or any kind of oil - even olive oil - along the hairline first.
6. Lighten up around your face. Think of it as a halo effect: for the most flattering look, go one shade lighter along your hairline. If you’re dyeing your hair light brown, do a dark blonde there. Those fine hairs tend to grab more dye and can become a shade or two deeper, but you actually want that area to be brighter, since it make you look younger and healthier.
7. Don’t overdye the ends. If you’re going darker, the porous ends can soak up more dye than the root area, making it obvious your shade is from a box. To maintain the color, just touch up the roots as needed. Only pull the dye through to the ends when they start to fade, about every third or fourth time your color. And when you dye the tips, wet them slightly first. The water makes pulling the color easier and prevents your hair from absorbing too much color there.

*I apparently lost the thumbail of this magazine :( *

Alterna Bamboo Color Care UV+ Fade Proof Fluide

The orange scented leave in fluid weightlessly protects  with a UVA/UVB barrier against fading, while making hair shiny and vibrant. While I can’t say for certain about the UVA/UVB filters really work or is just hype – my hair felt shinier and brighter. The spray is packed with organic bamboo and kalahri melon extracts. It is formulated without any GMOs, phthalates, synthetic dyes, sulfates, sodium chloride, gluten, TEA, DEA or parabens. It didn’t leave my hair sticky or greasy like the other hair products I have used.

Revlon Color Burst Lip Butter - Peach Parfait

After reading tons of rave reviews of this lip butter, I wanted to give this a try.  This lip butter promises to leave my lips baby soft and smooth while imparting a touch of color. The creamy lip butter is packed with mango, shea, and coconut butter. While the lip butter melted on my lips and left my lips buttery soft upon application, I noticed the color was a bit of splotchy.  It reminds me of Burt’s Bees lip shimmer but this was a bit more moisturizing and the color had a better payoff. This lip butter was good for the moisturizing benefits but mediocre on the color.

Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss Sheer Color - Tease

I love the vibrant raspberry color this lip gloss produces. This non-sticky gloss provides long lasting color but minimal moisturizing benefit. I highly recommend putting on lip balm before applying this gloss otherwise your lips might feel a bit dry later.
