Book Review - Miss White and the Seventh Heir by Jennifer Faye + Giveaway

Sage White had a doting father and a thriving publishing business. However, when her father becomes ill and passes away, he leaves his entire empire to Sage's stepmother, Elsa. Elsa refuses to share the empire and exiled Sage from the publishing world.  Sage isn't going to let her beloved father's legacy be run by her cruel stepmother without putting up a fight. Sage accepts an editor job at a rival magazine, QTR. Sage struggles to maintain her workload while keeping the magazine afloat. She decides to hire an assistant but something about the assistant isn't quite right. Will Sage be able to regain her father's company? Who is this mysterious assistant?

This modern-day retelling of Snow White was a fun read. Both Sage and Trey are dealing with their own issues with trust, parents, and "abandonment". They have trouble trusting each other, especially when, they both get betrayed by each other. I found it odd that one person wanted to be forgiven because their intentions were good but they couldn't forgive another person as quickly. Overall, it was an enjoyable book and I can't wait to read more books by the author.

SmartFx Volume Extend Mascara

No Mascara on

Photos with Mascara

SmartFx Volume Extend Mascara is packed with vitamin B5, sericin, hydrolyzed silk to condition lashes. The mascara promises to provide a clump free full fringe look. I usually use NARS mascara but I decided to try a new one. I saw this mascara on sale and I definitely know why it is on sale. The formula felt a bit dry when applied to my lashes. I also didn't even notice a difference between the mascara on and my natural lashes.

Primark Home No. 18 Peach Bellini Candle

I found this sweet scented candle at Primark for only $5. The candle had a sweet and fresh peachy scent. It has a 60 hours burn time which is very good  for the price. It wasn't my favorite scent as it is bit mild but definitely worth price.

Book Review - Together Forever by Jody Hedlund + Giveaway

Marianne Neumann is searching for her younger sister, Sophie. Filled with desperation, Marianne becomes a placing agent with the Children's Aid Society in hopes of locating her sister. As a placing agent, Marianne hopes to locate a better life for the orphans, while locating her sister in the process.

Andrew "Drew" Brady is accompanying Marianne on her first placing trip. He is a former schoolteacher who gets along with the children. However, underneath his charm and beauty, lies a dark secret that continues to torment Drew. The pair finds themselves growing closer until a devastating accident threatens to break their bond. Will Drew be able to put aside his feeling of guilt? Will Drew and Marianne be able to move past the accident?

This historical romance was an enjoyable read. It was an interesting topic about placing orphans from New York City to other small towns. While the book was good, I found the beginning a bit slow but it picked up towards the end. The characters were all flawed but they were trying their best with the cards they were dealt with.

Book Review: Furyborn (The Empirium Trilogy) by Claire Legrand

Rielle Dardenne is hiding a secret from her kingdom and her loved ones.  However, when her beloved best friend, Audric is ambushed, Rielle is willing to risk everything to protect him. Rielle is exposed to be one of the prophesied queens; but she must prove that she is the queen of light and not the queen of blood. Rielle must perform seven elemental magic trials and if she fails, things will take a turn for the worse.

Queen Rielle is a fairy tale to Eliana Ferracora. She is a bounty hunter for the Undying Empire, who is trying to survive. When her mother suddenly vanishes and Eliana must join forces with the rebels to find her mother. At the side of the rebels, she realizes evil and how terrible the Empire treats its citizens.  How is Eliana and Rielle related as their story intersect? Will Eliana be able to save the rebels from the Undying Empire?

I found the novel to be an interesting and thrilling read. It was fun to read about two strong female leads. However, I found it hard to like Eliana. She act like she was invisible but she was consistently overtaken by Invictius and the general from Red Crown. I didn't like that she tried using her sex appeal to get out of a situation instead of trying to formulate a plan. While, Rielle to rely on her internal strength and convictions instead of using her sex appeal. I can't read to read the next installment of this book.
