Book Review - The Golden Couple by Greer Hendricks

Marissa and Matthew Bishop are wealthy Washington suburbanites who seem to have it all. That's until Marissa drops an explosive bomb that she has been unfaithful to her husband. Underneath their mask of perfection is a relationship that lacks intimacy. Marissa wants to work on her marriage for the sake of their eight-year-old son and because she loves her husband who she has known since her teenage years.

Avery Chambers is a therapist who lost her professional license due to her unorthodox methods. She still continues to counseling people who are interested in getting help with her methods. The Bishops are interested in working on their marriage. As they work together to fix their marriage with Avery, bigger secrets are still hidden and no one is safe once they have been revealed.

I have read every single novel that these two powerhouses have written. I found after "The Wife Between Us", the novels doesn't have the same punch. I found this book to move very slowly and found it boring and predictable. I used to be excited when I saw that they had a new book out, after the last few duds I am no longer a huge fan of the duo. This could have been so much more better. There wasn't any likely main characters and a lot of fluff that just went nowhere. The ending was seen a mile away.

Shay Miller wants to find love but, she finds herself in love with her roommate, Sean. Sean is in love with his girlfriend, Jodie. She works hard at her job but, finds it to be a dead-end and underappreciated.  She wants to have a kinship with others but, find herself lonely and without friends.

Shay's life changes when she meets the Moore sisters. Cassandra and Jane are the definitions of perfection and glamorous. Shay is envious of their lives and wants to be just like them. When they accept Shay as their friend, Shay is willing to do anything for them to be their friend. How far will Shay go to prove her loyalty to them?

I have read the other books by the duo and enjoyed them. This book was also an enjoyable read towards the end. While the twists were surprising, I wasn't exactly blown away. I felt that the novel had too many characters with a different back story. It was hard keeping track of the different people and their history. I wasn't very fond of the main character, Shay because she kept making bad choices that made her look desperate for a friend. I felt like the story was a bit convoluted and long-winded but, I am still excited about their next book.

Book Review - An Anonymous Girl by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen

Jessica Farris is living paycheck to paycheck. However, when she comes across a lucrative offer to do a psychology study with Dr. Shields, Jessica assume it would be an easy payday. As Jessica becomes more involved with the study, the questions become more invasive and intense. She starts to wonder if Dr. Shields knows what she is hiding. Jessica fears her sense of reality when she realizes that is in one of Dr. Shields' manipulative experiment.

The novel reads like an intense cat and mouse game which leaves readers wondering who is the actual prey. The book has a few plot twists but, many of them were predictable. The novel leaves readers with questions about how much can you really trust those you know. Along with how far will someone go to get what they want.

This is the second novel from the authors who wrote "The Wife Between Us". After reading their first books, I had such high hopes for this book. While the book was a good and thrilling read, I prefer their first novel.
