December 2020 Empties!

I can't believe the year is almost gone! Where did the year go? Speaking of which I did finish a few things things month. Although it was mostly face masks.

I didn't try any new masks that was noteworthy. Most of the "new" masks I tried was from Facetory and they were decent. I didn't notice any of them being good enough to purchase again. Although, they recently had a sale for Black Friday so, I did get a few more goodies. I do like their skincare items.

I bought a few things from Lush from their Holiday collection. The Snow Fairy smells like cotton candy. It has soft and sweet scent. I did like the Nuori face mask. I usually applied this after using a sheet mask to leave my skin extra soft. I didn't like Tula's Detox in Jar. It made skin feel very uncomfortable. One thing I did like was the Lime Crime Wet Cherry gloss. It smells so amazing and it made my lips shinny without tacky.

Here is the list of everything I finished -

Meg Two Step Jelly Mask Firming and Radiance
Elvis + Elvin New York Grape Stem Cell Treatment Mask
Feel Brilliant Bamboo Charcoal Facial Sheet Mask
Bonvivant Botanical Mask Pack Collage + Olive
Que Bella Professional Radiance Boost Shimmering Cream Mask
23 Years Cocoon Gold Silky Mask
Hanalei Papaya Face Mask
Orjena Nutrition Essential Vita Mask Skin Refreshing

NCLA Treatment Clean Up Your Act

I usually do my nails at home and because I am an uncoordinated idiot, I make so many mistakes. Someone recommended getting a nail polish remover pen. I have heard good things about the NCLA brand so I decided to give this one a try. The remover pen came with replacement tops in a handy storage compartment on top. I found the sponge application to be hard and hardly any liquid came out. I found it easier just use to the tip just to wipe off the excess nail polish since nothing ever comes out.

Book Review - The Farm by Joanne Ramos

Somewhere hidden in the Hudson Valley, New York is  luxurious retreat with every amenity imaginable available. Participants have access to organic meals, personal fitness trainers, massages, beautiful and personal rooms. People who stay at the retreat reeive a small fortune in exchange for living there for full nine months of their pregnancy on the retreat property. The hosts are not allowed to leave the property and have their movements monitored in hopes that they will produce the perfect baby for someone else.

Jane is recently divorced single mother, who lives with her older cousin, Ate in a boarding house. As an immigrant from the Philippines, she has limited opportunities for a better life.  She is desperate to find a job that pays enough to take care of her daughter. Without much options, she takes on the opportunity to be a host at the Golden Oaks retreat. Jane becomes homesick and begins to miss her daughter. She yearns to be reconnected with her life outside of Golden Oaks. However, she cannot leave the retreat otherwise, she will lose out of the bonus on deliverying her child.

When I first read the summary of this novel, I was very excited to start reading it. However, I felt disappointed after completing the novel. I felt like the novel built up some great horrorific story about the retreat but, didn't actually quite deliver. Yes, being monitored and having limited outside interaction is scary but, quite understandable for the safety and privacy of the clients. After reading the novel, the story felt pointless especially, the ending. It was abrupt and jarring. I am not sure what the purpose of not only the ending but, the entire book. After I finished reading the novel, I was left wanting more from it. Maybe a secret plot of producing multiple babies for each client and only the best speciem survives (yes, this makes me terrible human to say that but, I was hoping for something that was so shocking and scary). Although, I did like that the author included a lot of minority women but, as one can say, they were taken advantage of. Overall, I would have liked this book if it had more going on and the writing was smoother and more fluid.

H2O+ Oasis Hydrating Treatment

The H20+ hydrating gel is enriched with sea grass and water lily extracts. The cooling gel goes on smoothly and absorbs quickly. It provides hydration for 24 hours. However, while the gel was non-greasy and didn’t make my face feel stiff, I didn’t my face to be hydrated for 24 hours. I found this treatment more useful to use as a cooling lotion after a hot day.

MEG 21 with Supplamine Cell Therapy Anti-oxidant Boost

The airless tube houses the powerful serum that is formulated with supplamine, Indian gooseberry and grape seed to correct free radicals and skin stress. The lightweight treatment promises to reduce the of fine lines and wrinkles while reducing irritation and promoting a healthy glowing complexion. The silky cream is formulated to protect skin from the environmental stress, smoke, sun damage and even excessive sugar in food (perhaps, they should create a diet pill too?)  The hydrating moisturizer kept my skin feeling smooth, soft and hydrated. It is recommended to be used twice a day but I saw good results with just using before bed. It was a good product but I don’t think it merit $95 price tag.

Goldfalden MD Wake Up Call Overnight Regenerative Facial Treatment

The overnight treatment is packed with CoQ10, DMAE, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Retinol, Vitamin E, Avocado, Grapeseed Oils and Organic Red Tea to revitalize dull complexion. The creamy moisturizer goes on smoothly and left my skin feel soft and smooth. When waiting up in the morning, my face felt soft, smooth and radiantly beautiful. I didn’t notice my skin feeling any firmer but it definitely revitalized my skin. I tried a small sample and I am sure the full size product might have enough product for me to notice my skin getting firmer. I would definitely get the full size but it’s a bit pricey ($85) so I might wait for a sale.

Julep - Luxe Up Your Lips - Poppy

The Zamac tip provides cool relief, soothe lips and boost microcirculation. The lip treatment is enriched with pumpkin seed oil and vitamin E to enrich, hydrate, sooth and plump lips. I was excited to try it but when I opened the cardboard box, the formula was all clumpy and impossible to come out.  The lip treatment also goes on sheer and leaves my lips smooth and soft. The lip treatment also had unappealing taste and scent. Definitely not one of my favorite lip treatments and a completely waste of money.

Bliss Treat Yourself Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask

The vitamin C enriched formula delivers a shot of oxygen using FluidO2 to skin to brighten up skin’s complexion. The time released antioxidants moisturize skin and revitalized dull and lackluster skin. The citrus scented mask goes on smoothly and foams up. After washing the mask off, my face felt refresh and reenergized but a bit tight. After applying some lotion, my face felt better and looked ah-mazingly relaxed.

Dermstore Lip Quench

The lip treatment promises to hydrate and soften lips. It is enriched with soybean, olive and sweet almond oil to treat dry and chapped  and dry lips. The lip gloss takes a bit of work to get out and it went on a bit clumpy. It had a bit of weird texture and taste  --- a bit below regular lip glosses and treatment. I wish they would stop sending these as bonus presents and a part of the subscription boxes.
