**May contain spoilers**

The collection of short stories where each character lives are interwoven with each other. The characters are all depicted as flawed people are just trying to do the best with what they have.

At first, we take a peek into a censor who lived in Russia during 1937. We get to see what motivates him. It seems at first that he betrays all that mattered to him only to learn later he is actually preserving all that mattered to him.  And with that one action, it changes the course of every other characters' lives. The short stories lead us all the way into the future of 2013 to see how the characters deal with actions done in 1937.

With each story, you are able to read and find out why each character behaved the way they did and end up sympathizing with them realizing they are just human. It's a fun twist to see how each of the characters are all connected in the end and realizing doing just one thing can have an impact on not only yourself but others. It's a book that can be enjoyed over and over to appreciate the characteristics that make us human.

**I received a copy of this book for my honest feedback. This had no impact on my review**
