Urban Decay Deluxe Shadow Box

A close up of the felt back
I was in the market for some new makeup for my birthday trip and I came across this and had to try it. I was supposed to save it to actually use on my trip but I couldn't pass up on it! The palette included  Fishnet, Honey, Ransom, Graffiti, Zero, Peace, Shag, Scratch, and Underground eyeshadow with a deluxe Urban Decay Primer Potion. The colors are shimmery and can be used for both day and night as there is an even mix of nice "loud" colors and subtle ones. The eyeshadow is shimmery and nicely pigmented. I did notice you really did have to use a heavy hand to get the color deposited into my lids. I didn't use the sponges provided since I usually I have tons of brushes [but I honestly only use one or two].

Fishnet -  a duo chrome color of fuchsia and purple
Graffiti  - a shimmery Kelly green
Shag -  a metallic coppery color
Honey - reminds me of a rich honey color  [haha!] its like an old gold metallic color
Zero -  a charcoal goal with hint of silver glitter [I can't really tell it is super tiny...]
Scratch - reminds me of Stila's Kitten. It is a soft wash of rose gold
Ransom - a blue with purple highlights
Peace - a teal blue. It reminds me of the water in some nice beachy island.
Underground - a slight wash of taupe/brown

Julep Nail Polish - Cleopatra

When I saw this totally on trend black latex [doesn't really contain latex] creme nail polish, I knew I had to get it. Well, apart from it being on trendy cool and awesome looking...okay, that's the only reasons I got... but I don't regret this nail polish one bit. The nail polish dries matte but I noticed when I applied lotion [most notably Julep's Pomegranate Body Creme] the nail polished turned shiny. It reminds me a bit of a  "dull" leather that is usually "dry looking" and gets really shiny when... I guess you can say I moisturize some shiny into my nail.  The nail polish was a bit thick and the consistency reminds me a bit of melted plastic.  Like when I wiped the brush against the bottle and tried apply a thin layer, I got a ugly consistency like melted plastic and became really bumpy looking. I realized it looked better when I applied  a lot of  nail polish to get a nice even coverage. Also, make sure to clean your nails really well [or there is no chips in your base coat] before applying the nail polish otherwise you won't get an even coverage. I learned this the hard way, as my base coat was  chipped [but who can really tell when it is clear (!?!) and I only applied it 6 hours prior to using the nail polish] and the  nail polish was bumpy and uneven. Overall, one of my favorite "special effects" nail polish and it is perfect for Halloween.

Maybelline Great Lash Limited Edition Mascara - Wink of Pink

I love colored mascaras but I noticed mostly "expensive" brands have them. I have used the navy mascara and was ecstatic to see  6 "new" shades. While, they were only $8 a pop at my local drugstore and I didn't really need any mascara I still ended up buying 4....haha oops! I love these  colored mascaras, I wish they weren't limited edition but here to stay forever. From what I noticed though, it seems they bring back these colors during August and they usually available for the whole month or until they run out. But let's be honest, these mascaras last forever so even if they come back once a year, if you buy 2 or 3 tubes you will be good for the entire year.

While some of the mini photos the bright florescent pink did look like my eyes were irritated when applied to both eyelashes, I still like it. Since, Halloween is right around the corner, I am super excited about the different looks I can create with the mascara but I think for work I might have to either apply to the lower lashes or just the tips of my upper lashes. Just a word of caution, the first couple of swipes were not that great and were flaky but afterwards the color went on smoothly and lasted for a good 8 hours.

I can't wait to try the others and post the photos up :)

Instyle April 2013

Massimiliano Giornetti for Salvatore Ferragamo gives his take on fashion -
“1. Always wear what makes you feel desirable
2. Pay attention to tailoring
3. Embrace your feminine and masculine sides
4. Let accessories seduce you and others
5. Rethink Leather”

The trend for this month - “Floral Skirt”
How to pick the perfect one for you:
“1. The Fabric - this crop blooms in variety of materials. For a dressy event, pick a featherweight brocade or sheer lace. Denim and cotton are ideal for casual outings.
2. The Fit - find the silhouette that plays up your figure: full skirts camouflage hips; A-lines hug curves. Pencil styles provide a sleek line that flatters most shapes.
3. The Outfit - go solid on top if the print below is busy. Or mix patterns for a trendier  vibe- make it  work by keeping hues in the same color family.”
